Up until the moment awareness arrived there would be no need for physical senses. Awareness would have nothing to be aware of. No knowledge could be gained. The mind would be empty of images or memories. Without memories there could be no reasoning. The aware self would have no reason to act. Awareness without senses would be useless. If senses came first before awareness, they too would have no use. That which serves no purpose gives no advantage and is therefore dropped out of the evolutionary chain.
What came first, awareness or the senses, is a paradox in the theory of evolution.
Unless
The senses were in place awaiting the arrival of awareness. In other words, senses were pre-planned, which requires a separate Intelligent Designer.
It doesn't matter how far you go back down the theoretical evolutionary chain, there will come a point where awareness first came into being, before that point awareness did not exist. It doesn't matter how small that awareness was, because awareness is awareness, it either exists fully or it doesn't exist at all. Awareness cannot be divided because it would become two separate awareness'; two 'I AMs'. Therefore awareness cannot be made up of separate cells or neurons. 'I' always equals one. The brain/soul connection is no more than an interface. It is like the keyboard on a computer.
