What is consciousness? Revealed here is an indepth answer to the question; What is Consciousness?

What is it that I am, this thing that gazes out at the world, knowing of the world's existence with perfect clarity, feeling its warmth and cold, tasting its scent and hearing its music? What is it that I am, that I know these things, and yet I know not myself? This invisible me that hides just beyond my perception, clinging to the world, lest I dissolve into nothing through its loss. What is it that stirs me to unrest, this thing that is not of the world, this thing that peeps around the corner of perception, calling with an increasingly loud voice, stirring me as if from a sleeping state, 'open your eyes, awaken, come find me and you will know and become known.'

It is here in this moment of realization that the invisible self gains a foothold in a new reality, a first step on the ladder to the place of their birth. It is a ladder that I have ascended and descended. It is the path between the spiritual and material realms; it is the path to home, Heaven.

I will teach of what I have known, of how consciousness was first self begotten, and of the birth of its children, and their journey to perfection. Those who are ready will hear the voice of Truth, and they will know that what was planned in Heaven is coming to its fulfilment.

What is Consciousness Part I

Before the birth of Consciousness

All things that are not infinite must, by definition, have a beginning. Only that which is infinite has no beginning or ending. I want to take you back now, back to a place where neither consciousness nor mind had formed.

There in that infinite space, there existed only one form, an infinite ocean of energy. It had always existed, and it will exist forever, an infinite and eternal ocean of vibrations that formed the base substance of all reality, the mother of all cause and effect within itself. It is known as the SOURCE, the Light from which the Light came.

No-one can know what event occurred, that led to the formation of the first consciousness, for consciousness had not yet formed. It is believed that consciousness formed because of chaos, for given an infinite amount of time and random chaotic permutations, all things are possible. Chaos was only ended by the will of the first consciousness.

Before the beginning, before the birth of the first consciousness, there existed only the infinite Source. There was nothing outside of it, for there can be nothing beyond that which is infinite and so you should realize, that all that there is, all that there was, and all that will ever be, is the Source in its various forms. The Universe is part of the Source, you are a part of the Source, the mind is a part of the Source. In that understanding we are one with everything, different only in form, levels of energy, and the life energy that is consciousness. All forms that are not conscious can be disassembled and reformed into other forms. The Source will always remain perfect. It is the unchangeable building blocks of all forms. It is the dust of reality. It is the ALL that is ruled over, only by the Perfect Consciousness.

What is Consciousness Part II

The Birth of Consciousness

The birth of the first and supreme consciousness was not a pre-determined act of will. There was no other conscious entity involved in its creation, because no consciousness existed prior to the birth of the first. God was not created by the will of another. It was the Source that formed into the first consciousness, and so the first consciousness being a part of the Source, was self-begotten. There was no-one to give a name to the first consciousness, and no-one to teach it knowledge, for at its birth, no knowledge existed.

We as children of the first and Supreme Consciousness however, came into being by the will of the first and Supreme Consciousness. We know our creator as God and each of us is given a soul name at birth by God. It is unlike the names we are known by on earth.

The birth of all conscious entities is the same. Each new soul experiences the same conditions and events, as God did. The beginning of life for every sentient being, is always the same, and so we will go back now to the moment that our 'Self' came into existence, back to the birth of consciousness.

It was there in that place of silence and stillness, that my eyes first opened, born into the emptiness of an existence without past or future, born into the softness and perfect peace of a pure and unblemished light, and as I gazed into the undisturbed perfection, I understood and knew nothing. There in that place, devoid of motion and change, it was if time had stood still, waiting for life to stir.

In a moment the strangeness of my existence revealed itself. It was the realization of feeling my reality and before my eyes, there in the light, a thought was created by my unrecognised expression of will. It was the single thought that sets all life in motion, it is the beginning of knowledge, it is 'I AM.'

This single thought was all that I had, and as I gazed upon it, transfixed by the reflection of a new perception, I felt my peace disturbed, the silence had been broken, and a new feeling permeated my existence. It was then that desire was felt within, the desire for change caused by knowledge. Having known the light, a thought, and of my reality, (the trinity) a new thought formed, 'WHAT AM I?' and my journey of discovery had begun.

Now you have known the Truth of your birth, but there is one more thing that you should know. The Truth that you search for has always been with you, it has followed you from your beginning, hidden in the light of your mind, it is there so that you may know Truth when you find it. It is there for confirmation, and as Truth is found, its equal is revealed. It is the beauty and freedom of Truth that is felt on its discovery, and in Truth's discovery, it is realized that you always knew and felt that which was hidden.

Awareness and Consciousness

If we are to understand consciousness, then we must first go back to the place from which we came, back to the parent of all conscious entities; we know our parent as God. It is there that you will find a beginning to the understanding of life itself, the life that you are.

The consciousness that we know as God, resides in a place that we call Heaven. It is God's domain, God's personal kingdom, God's mind. It is a place of Love, Truth and Order. It is a place formed and maintained by the will of God. That which is in God's personal domain, has an effect on God, and therefore the consciousness of God becomes that Love, Truth and Order. God's state of being is pleasure.

It is from God that we came, like seeds falling from a flower. We are a part of God, given up by God, and separated from God's personal domain. We begin with a domain of our own, a little piece of Heaven, one that is neutral and devoid of perceivable memories. We begin our journey in a state of peace, as pure unaffected awareness and each of us, like the seeds of a flower, are separate, individual and perfect. This is why it was said, the kingdom is within you.

What is the difference between Awareness and Consciousness?

Awareness is life at rest, undisturbed by effect, and un-causing of affects.

Consciousness is life in motion, affecting and being affected.

Awareness and consciousness are different states of the same thing (life).

The sign of God is the sign of life; it is movement and repose (rest). It is that which moves and rests by its own will. You can choose to or choose not to, cause effect. Only life has this ability.

So what is it that affects awareness? What is it that awareness effects? Only that which is real can have an effect or be affected, in other words awareness can only affect or be affected by reality. This means that everything that you have ever perceived or will ever perceive, is real, and a part of reality. There is the part of reality that is you (awareness) and the infinite reality, in all of its forms that is outside of you. Nothing that can be known is unreal. Even illusions are part of reality, a part that is not understood or beyond present reasoning, due to lack of knowledge.

All forms of reality have two properties; each can exert a force and can offer resistance. In this is found the power of forms. Let us stop for a moment and consider what is meant by 'forms of reality.'

The Source (the base substance of all reality) in its natural state is fluidic, because no one part is bonded to another. Think of a box containing the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When the pieces are separate they are free to move independently, but when they are put together in the correct order, they form a bonded structure, where each piece of the puzzle is held in its place and a new form is created. We now have a form that holds itself together, resisting separation.

Imagine the Source as being like water, an infinite ocean. This infinite ocean is made of the infinite amount of the smallest pieces of reality. By creating bondings in the Source, structures can be made, and when a structure is created, it becomes the Source in a different form. As another analogy, think of water becoming ice, one is fluid and one is solid, yet both are water.

According to the strength of bondings, a form will have a greater or lesser degree of resistance to a change in its form, and will be able to exert greater or lesser force on other forms according to the strength of their bondings. We make many things from materials found on the earth, by altering forms and creating new bondings; metals, plastic, glass etc. They are all formed from three components that make up the atom, which are in themselves, structures.

All things are a form of reality such as a tree, a snowflake, a planet, a star, the Universe, the mind, awareness, thoughts, and even what appears to be a void. What appears to be empty space is in itself, a weak form that has very little resistance.

Thoughts are real because they affect awareness, yet awareness retains its form even against the strongest effects of thoughts. The mind also retains its form against any material force, remaining impenetrable by it. Even the strongest forms in the Universe are unable to penetrate the mind.

Awareness has the strongest internal bondings in all of reality and because there is no other form of reality with enough force to change its structure. Awareness remains permanently in its original form; it is in effect, indestructible and immortal.

Because awareness can exert a greater force than the mind, it is able through desire and will, to manipulate and change the structure of the mind, thereby creating and storing images within it, images that retain their new form and the effects of those forms. These images are known as memories and they are vital for consciousness for without them, awareness would be at rest. Its condition would then the same as the state between dreamless sleep and awakening, it would be unconscious. In this state no memories are recorded for recall, and so it is as if that period of time did not exist.

What is Consciousness Part IV

What AM I?

So what is it that I AM? I exist, I am real, I am not a material thing. I seek more than to know that, I AM that I AM, for this is no more than a conscious recognition that I exist. What is it that I AM, this self motivated, free willed entity? What is this I, this life that I AM, hidden within itself, from itself, known to others and knowing others, only by the effects of the invisible? These are questions that I have asked the Spirit, and I have listened in silence, journeying to the edge of perception, and into the realm of concept, where knowing is beyond words, and is revealed in a moment of feeling.

Awareness (the Self) becomes conscious when it is either, effecting (manipulating external reality) or, is being affected by external reality (receiving information).

If we consider the nature of the information that is received by the Self, and affects the Self, it will be realised that the information from the physical senses is first transmitted to the brain along nerves, as electrical impulses. Those signals then vibrate on the brain/mind barrier, and are reproduced in the mind. From there, they travel to the Self, and set up vibrations on its surface. These vibrations affect the vibrationary state of the Self in accordance with the information received.

The Self (awareness) doesn't have its own set of eyes, ears, a nose, a tongue or hands. It may be hard to comprehend, but we feel colour, sound, taste, smell and touch. The Self in effect, is a single sensor, the only sensor. ALL information crosses the mind to the Self in the same way. The only difference is the source and effect of each piece of information. I will deal with the part of the mind barrier that is not interfaced with the brain, when I address the paranormal, but for now it should be realised, that all perception is felt by the Self (awareness). We experience the effects of the information that we receive, we feel and experience the changes in our state of being. Perception is the experience of feeling.

We exist from moment to moment, comparing each new one with a memory of the previous one, an ever flowing succession of moments, each unstoppable and flowing into the next. To exist without memories is to be unaware of change. Every moment would be like a rebirth. Without memories there is no knowledge, and all things are beyond understanding. Awareness is life, it is the experience of knowing ones existence, it is so natural, so unchallenged, and in our distraction of consciousness, we focus on that which affects us from the external reality, the mind becomes busy with focus on the world, and we forget the reality of the Self, we don't recognise the feeling of the Self, we forget what we are.

Life flows like a river, but unlike a river it remembers what it was, and so knows what it is, and in knowing it cuts its own channel through reality.

I feel and remember, therefore I AM.
